Ronchi: All you need to know

A few steps from Marina Di Massa there are Ronchi and Poveromo where since 1988 the International Prize “San Domenichino” is holden in order to honour the small saint of Saragozza. The Prize , with religious origins, has been transformed in a Literary Prize of international fame and is attended every year by famous characters of culture and art of high level. The main characteristic of Ronchi and Poveromo is the particular landscape which is the ideal place to go on holiday; besides the sea and the sun here is also a Californian climate.

During the cold months rarely the temperature decreases below zero. The Apuan Alps protect from the cold winds of Tramontana. The spring begins very soon and already in February the trees start blooming.Every holidaymaker knows that in Ronchi and Poveromo there are nature and quiet, a well –equipped beach, many tourist facilities as shops, first class hotels, guesthouses, besides there is also the airport of Cinquale which guarantees tourist flights linking up the national and international ones with the islands.

Moreover the sport facilities complete the various equipments and the natural endowments. The mild climate and the lively industriousness animate Ronchi and Poveromo already in spring when the first hot beams of the sun gild the buildings and the surrounding nature. During the summer moreover the sea and the mountains guarantee one of the most complete and interesting stay. Many vip villas. Between the inter-war years in Ronchi and Poveromo were only the villas of Minister Angelini, Bovis, Brugnoli , Colombini; Felini , Wallenstein, but in the post war period arrived , just to mention someone, also the family Ruffo di Calabria with Paola , today the queen of Belgium , Calamandrei, Maccari, Prezzoli Medea, Oliviero Comparni who bought Minister Angelini’s villa and its surroundings giving life to the well know spot “Oliviero”.

The 28Th August 1977 a tornado destroyed in short time the age-old pinewood which up that date had characterised one of the most beautiful Mediterranean bush. The tornado destroyed also beach establishments, houses and roads. Everything has been rebuilt following the previous style, the pinewood has been reforested , where possible, but it will take many years to get a bush as the old one, even if many rare plants have been saved. All this gives to the place a particular aspect which attracts tourists. A beautiful holiday , a perfect fusion between the Mediterranean nature and the facilities which are necessary for a first –class tourist area. This balance gives to Ronchi and Poveromo the possibility to be a small “Eden” , one of the favourite place by the tourists during the summer season. Thanks to the human relationships, to the kindness and comprehension for the life systems and for the traditional custom of the foreigners, Ronchi and Poveromo are one of the most favourite tourist and bathing area not only Italian but also overseas. All above testified also by the large tourism from all over the world.
