The Sound of the Wind, a solo exhibition by painter Annamaria Buonamici, opens at the Alberto Gianni Maritime Museum on Lungo Canale Est 32 in Viareggio (Lucca).
Annamaria Buonamici's works are created using a unique technique, in which the artist paints the backs of transparent fiberglass sheets with oil paints.
Her creative universe focuses on the observation of the natural landscape: through continuous overlapping, the painter represents nature with evocative color combinations, attempting to capture its deepest essence.
The river is often at the center of her compositions, a true leitmotif and a fundamental element of the painter's human and artistic journey: a river at times clear and calm, at others leaden and swirling, perceived as a form of existence in perpetual evolution, capable of remaining unchanged while always appearing different. Annamaria Buonamici was born in Lucca in 1954.
In the 1970s, she worked as a set designer for theater productions.
Since 1983, she has been actively exhibiting, holding solo and group shows throughout Italy and abroad and participating in numerous contemporary art fairs. Some of her paintings are held in important public and private collections in Italy, Peru, Argentina, Japan, and Australia. The exhibition, curated by Gianni Costa, is sponsored by the Municipality of Viareggio and is part of the "The Sea in a Bottle" series of events, promoted by the Friends of the Viareggio Maritime Museum Association.
It is organized in collaboration with the Mercurio Arte Contemporanea gallery in Viareggio and is accompanied by a catalog with a critical essay by Marco Del Monte.
It is open until Sunday, August 30, 2026, from Tuesday to Sunday, 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM.
