"A school door that opens is a prison door that closes" says Victor Hugo, but here the school door opens into a detention house, where the pupils are all incarcerated. The open door of the school leads them into the only happy space, the only one where they can breathe an air of freedom. And between the desks and the blackboard they become normal pupils.
