The symphonic festival 2022

The Symphonic Festival is back this summer, now in its twenty-ninth edition.

An appointment awaited by its large and passionate audience, the Festival combines the skill of the performers with the choice of songs of sure appeal, a formula that gives the opportunity to listen to excellent performances of the masterpieces of classical music and beyond.

The concerts will be held in the splendid courtyard of Palazzo Ducale di Massa, the historical site of the event, and, for the evening of 7 August, in the suggestive park of Villa Rinchiostra.

The variety of proposals characterizes, as usual, the program of the 4 concerts, with a repertoire that tries to open up to the multiplicity and diversity of the proposals.

The opening concert on 28 July, at Palazzo Ducale, will be entrusted to the sure touch of Maurizio Moretta, pianist active for years in the most important Italian and foreign theaters, protagonist of a program which, starting from Mozart's Fantasia in D minor to close with Gershwin's 3 Preludes, he deliberately collects the repertoire most loved and known by the public.

On 2 August, in the courtyard of the Doge's Palace, the talented Ukrainian artists who make up the Chamber Orchestra of the Kharkiv Philharmonic will be on stage, with the contribution of the solo soprano Eva Dorofeeva. The concert is inspired by the figure of the Ukrainian soprano Solomiya Krushelnytska, one of the most important opera singers of the first half of the 20th century, also admired by Puccini, who wanted her to be the protagonist in the premiere of her in Madama Butterfly. The program combines Puccini's romances and Ukrainian melodies, opera overture with pieces from the great repertoire for strings.

The Festival will move to the park of Villa Rinchiostra on 7 August for the concert dedicated to Beethoven by the Domenico Scarlatti Orchestra conducted by Paolo Biancalana; a symphonic program, finally possible after the health emergency, with two masterpieces by the genius from Bonn, the monumental fifth concert for piano and orchestra, the Emperor, and the sunny eighth symphony. Soloist in the concert will be the very young talent Edoardo Riganti Fulginei, 18, one of the promises of our concert.

On 11 August we return to Palazzo Ducale for the final evening of the festival entrusted to the Archi of the Symphonic Orchestra of Grosseto. Franz Anton Krager, Texan conductor specialized in the American and pop repertoire, will link Grieg's romantic atmospheres to the melodies of the Beatles songs, expertly arranged for orchestra by the American composer Robert Nelson, in an original program.

The Festival is promoted by the Municipality of Massa - Culture Office, by the Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara Foundation with the patronage of the Province of Massa-Carrara; it is organized by the Massese Music Association and the Culture Office of the Municipality.
