The village has very old origins, however, it is difficult to trace a well-defined historical profile given that the little bibliography available only presents hypothesis. The gothic style church from 1338 is in a dominant position uphill, above the residential area. The cove is sheltered by a closed gorge located between two rocky promontories. Following the old bridle paths for about 15 minutes, one reaches the village of Corniglia. There are two possible ways to chose from depending on the time one has available for the walk.
