Life
by night is first class both
in the apuan- versilia cost and in the hinterland of these big tourist
areas, which every year attract more and more tourists of all ages.
There are many discos and night –clubs
offering shows and concerts with famous singers and entertainers.
In Marina di Carrara there
are Gattopardo dancing, Nigth Club "La Spiaggia", Paradise Beach. A
few kms after in Marina di Massa you find Miami and
Il Pirata, two dancings that acted like a go-between being the cause of many weddings. Always in Marina di Massa there
is in the ex
Alpemare ( of the postwar) Mecca today named Rum- Kai. In
Ronchi the well known Oliviero has come to life again , built in the
50’s by the omonymous Oliviero Comparini.

During the economic
boom (1950-1960 and 1970) it was used by
the famous directors as setting for films played by Charlie Chaplin,
Maurice Chevalier, Edward G.
Robinson,
Nilla Pizzi, Modugno, Curzio Malaparte, Walter Chiari, Fred Buongusto , Paolo Villaggio an d other no less famous
celebrities. In
1978n a fire destroyed the place and Mr Oliviero wouldn’t rebuilt that
Temple of the music and show. Since last year, thanks to the
intelligence of a young entrepreneur, the villa including the club Oliviero , the restaurant , the
park and swimming pools, has been renewed . Not very far there is
Baraonda in Cinquale.

Before
talking of the premises, it worthwhile remembering the Carnival of
Viareggio. The allegorical wagons with their characters Biondina and
Burlamacco are the joy for grown ups and children. A big feast involving
Via Regia, that is the etymology of Viareggio . Adorned quarters as well
as decorated promenade,
theatre of the waggons’ parade. No less famous is the
Carnival by
night especially the one in Darsena. But coming back to premises here we are in
Forte Dei Marmi with Capannina of Nevio and Guido
Franceschi, built by professor Tempestini in very short time in 1939
from February to June. This
place , still vip, was attened by play-boys, Edith Piaf and other
celebrities.

For
years Capannina
guided by Gherardo and Carla Guidi continues to be famous all over the world as well as Bussola in Focette in
Marina Di Pietrasanta built by Sergio Bernardini.
Here in the 50’s were launched Juliette Greco, Mina, Milva,
Caterina Valente, Franca Rame , the big Ella Fitzgerald, Ginger Rogers
and not to be forgotten Marlene Dietrich. Bernardini is dead but Bussola
is still alive as well as the
near Barattolo . In Versilia there are also younger premises than
Bussola but already known. In Marina dI Pietrasanta there are
Faruk, La Canniccia, Seven Apples, Aqua Calda ; in
Lido di Camaiore Agorà and Cavalluccio Marino, in
Forte Dei Marmi Midhò and Cupido,
in Viareggio Magazzini Mondani and in
Torre del Lago Frau Marlen. There
are known and well patronised places also in the hinterland of Versila and Massa
Carrara as in Capezzano Pianore the Kama
Kama and in Piano di Mommio the Papillon. In
Aulla di Massa Carrara there is Douplè and the discobar Paprika, in Cravilla di
Groppoli (Mulazzo district) the dancing La Pineta, in
Licciana Nardi the
disco Kalika and finally in
Filetto di
Villafranca the disco bar Il
Nido.
